Dubai. The land of superlatives – the tallest, the most amazing, the best, the list is endless in this ever evolving ‘magical city’. Here’s some recommendations to give your holiday the diversity that Dubai offers.

Retail Therapy

In Dubai people indulge in ‘recreational shopping’. With so many world class shopping malls and international brands to choose from, it is wonderful browsing for just anything. Shop for brands or quaint souvenirs, in big malls or small shops of Karama; It is a fantastic experience

City of Gold

With huge amounts of gold traded here and hundreds of shops selling jewellery, it’s no wonder that Dubai is called ‘City of Gold’ Even if you don't wish to buy; just walking through the souk itself is an awesome experience. We stronly suggest you bargain until you get a good price, but bear in mind that the prices vary depending on the gold rate for the day.

Indoor Skiing

The very fact that you are in the desert and are skiing could seem a contradiction, but that is the lure to the whole experience that is Ski Dubai. With prices covering the rental of all equipment and clothing, you just need to bring yourself along.

The Old Town

‘Bastakia’ represents what parts of Dubai used to be like with numerous Wind towers, an age-old air conditioning system. The area is small but is as close as you will get to a heritage area, which is a world apart from the "New Dubai" springing up not so far away.

Go boating - the quaint way!

Avoid the traffic and cross the creek using an ‘abra’, a small wooden boat. It costs next to nothing and can be included as part of your adventures through the city.

Burj Al Arab

It has become a landmark of Dubai. This hotel is the world’s first seven star hotel that is designed by Tom Wright of the WS Atkins to look like a sail. The construction of Burj Al-Arab began in 1994 and the doors opened in December 1999. In February 2005, two professional tennis players, Roger Federer and Andre Agassi played an unranked game on the helipad of the hotel.

Wild Wadi

Wild Wadi is a water park next to Jumeirah Beach Hotel. The park has the tallest and fastest free fall outside North America, the Jumeirah Sceirah, where you supposedly reach 80kph! For those less speed inclined, there is Juha's Journey where you can idle your way around a river.

Madinat Souk

The Souk at Madinat Jumeirah gives you a real feel of Arabia, and although pricey, is worth meandering through over an afternoon. After shopping, it is possible to have dinner, perhaps at PaiThai, which you must take a boat through the waterways to reach, followed by dancing off your calories at the Trilogy nightclub.

Dubai Museum

Excellent value for money as the tickets are very cheapIt is a lovely  experience, seeing the history of the place represented through different means. Strongly recommend it. The museum is a must for visitors of all ages. A fascinating look at the short history of Dubai. Even the kids will love it. Inside areas are A/C
